THE BALLET LAB

  • What do I need to bring to each class?
For Classical Ballet Classes, you will require a bodysuit, ballet tights, and ballet shoes. For Pointe Classes, you will require pointe shoes unless you are unable to dance en pointe. You are welcome to wear regular ballet shoes in pointe classes if you are unable to dance en pointe. For Contemporary Classes, you will require form fitting dancewear. For TBL Tactics, Yoga, Pilates, and Conditioning Style Classes, you will require a Yoga Mat, a thera-band, and a circle workout band. We provide suggested substitute options for these props if you do not own them.
  • What are your Covid-19 Protocols?
Students will be screened daily, this includes a temperature check and a health screening questionnaire. Increased sanitary measures will be taking place throughout the program. Studios will be disinfected top to bottom prior to the start of everyday and at the end of everyday. Students and teachers will be required to sanitize their hands upon entry and exit of the studio and regularly throughout classes. Ballet Barres will be disinfected after every use. In order to maintain safe distance (minimum 6ft apart) every dancer will have their individual dance space marked out on the floor and barre. This will be their spot for the entirety of the week. Dancers will remain in the same studio for the entire program. There will be no physical contact throughout the program, this includes no hands on corrections. There will be no dressing room access. Students are to eat lunch in their studio or outdoors in the courtyard. Lunch will be supervised to ensure proper physical distance is maintained. Bathrooms will be monitored and sanitized regularly. Parents will not be allowed into the studios or common areas to avoid larger group gatherings. Drop Off/ Pick Up must occur outside of the building. Masks are required at all times, including while dancing.
  • Do I need props and do you have suggested alternatives if I don't have any?
For TBL Tactics, Yoga, Pilates, and Conditioning Style Classes, you will require a Yoga Mat, a thera-band, and a circle workout band. We provide suggested substitute options for these props if you do not own them. Here are some suggested alternatives: As an alternative for circle workout bands, you can use a theraband tied into a circle. As an alternative for a yoga mat, you can bring a beach towel.
  • What if I do not have pointe shoes or if I have never danced on pointe?
If you do not have pointe shoes and would still like to try out the pointe classes, we suggest our pre-pointe classes, as these are a safe introduction to pointe work. If you prefer to dance the pointe class on demi-pointe/ without pointe shoes, this is still an incredibly beneficial class for your overall technique, as well as increasing ankle & calf strength.
  • Can I get a refund?
We will be offering a 100% refund in the event that we need to cancel our Ballet Lab due to Government restrictions related to the Pandemic. At this time, we are not offering refunds for any other reason. If you would like to discuss your registration with us personally, please e-mail our team at theballetlab@gmail.com
  • What is the daily schedule?
We have included a sample schedule on our Summer 2021 page on our website. We will be sending out a more detailed schedule and welcome package closer to the start of the intensive.
  • When can I use my Scholarship?
We are excited to be applying all scholarships to our 2022 Ballet Labs. With the very limiting restrictions due to Covid-19, we have unfortunately had to pause our scholarship applications for this season to accomodate the significantly reduced class sizes.
  • How can I join the Junior ACES?
Great question! In order to become a part of the Junior ACES company you will have to attend The Ballet Lab. At The Ballet Lab we look for dancers who stand out based on their technique, work ethic, attitude, artistry and passion for dance! After all of our programs are done for the summer, invites to the Junior ACES are emailed out in early Septmeber.
  • What does it mean to be a "Junior ACE"?"
As a member of the Junior ACES you will have a first hand experience of life as a professional dancer! Company members train and perform alongside our professional dance company, ACE Dance Theatre, and are actively involved in our promotional campaigns, film shoots, community performance events and international tours. Junior ACES train and rehearse with us once per week ( usually on Saturday evenings or sunday mornings) for approx 4-5months. Additional training and rehearsals are added to our program if we are preparing for a tour, festival performance or film shoot.
